God's Word is alive!

This week I'm reading the book of Ecclesiastes, which seemed to be a very heavy topic to digest as the scenary painted by the author (probably Solomon) is really grey.

Ecclesiastes 1:3 "What do people really gain from the hard work they do here on earth?"

Indeed, people around us seek fulfilment in life in wealth, glamour, fame, relationships, personal ambitions, etc. These worldly things do fascinate us momentarily, but none is fundamental. If we look to them to satisfy our soul, we will surely be disappointed.

This really ties in to what I read the post from Ganxiezhu which I blogged about in my previous entry.

Ecclesiastes 1:18 "With much wisdom comes much disappointment; the person who gains more knowledge also gains more sorrow."

Reading this at this time reminded me of my conversation with mom this morning. Somehow we were discussing about people who were less intelligent and she was saying that these people may be more blessed as they have less worries. Woe to those who look down on people of lower intelligence. Such pitiful arrogance.

The ways in which God spoke to me never fail to keep me in awe. Indeed, God's Word is alive.

Hallelujah. Praise the Lord.

Yes, indeed. This is why some people say that ignorance is bliss. The Chinese say, "Sha ren yiu sha fu" Stupid people have stupid luck. Or the Hokkien dialect speaking people put it very succinctly:
"Kiang lang chiak gong lang;
gong lang chiak ti kong"! (Memorise this and say to your mom; she will be impressed.) It means (direct translation) the clever people eat up stupid people; the stupid people eat up God.
