A man, a wolf and a lion

This morning my pastor shared with us a story about a man, a wolf and a lion.

This man walked through the woods as a daily route to work. One day, he saw this wolf sitting in front of the cave, unable to move. He took a closer look and realised that the wolf was crippled. 2 of its hind legs were broken such that it was now unable to run. It could only whimper in front of the cave. However, the wolf being a ferocious animal, the man did nothing to save the wolf.

The next day, the man walk past the cave as usual. This time, he encountered an unusual scene. He saw a lion sharing the prey it caught with the wolf. The wolf could have been the prey of the lion as the lion is even more ferocious than the wolf. Instead, the lion took pity and took care of the wolf. The man thought to himself: "God is good. God takes care of even injured animals in the most amazing way."

Again, the man thought to himself: "Hmm... If God can feed the crippled wolf in this way, why should I work so hard? God can feed me in the same way. God will take care of everything."

So from that day onwards, the man found himself another cave and sat outside the cave, waiting for food to fall from the sky, waiting for people to pity on him and feed him. But it never happened. The man died of hunger.

The moral of the story is: "It is more of a blessing to give than to receive. Why didn't the man model after the giving spirit of the lion? If he had, he would work harder so that he could have extra to give others after feeding his own family. He would have prospered."

Good analogy! How true! It's always a blessing and a privilege to give. Because the joy one experiences is sheer euphoria!

Another irony of life: you receive more by giving...

Not an irony, Mrdes... But a truth that eludes reason...
