left or right brained?

"Of 30 questions, 17 of your responses indicate you are left brained dominant. 13 of your responses are indications of right brain dominance. These results indicate you have a balanced brain, with no tendency to think towards either side. Those who are middle-brain dominant tend to be more flexible than either the left or the right-brain folks; however, you often vacillate between the two hemispheres when you make decisions. You sometimes get confused when decisions need to be made because, neurologically speaking, you could do most tasks through either a left-brain or a right-brain method! A balanced score means you are able to draw on the strengths of both the right and left hemispheres of your brain depending upon a given situation. This combination makes you a creative and flexible thinker. The down side to having a more "balanced brain" is that you may sometimes feel paralyzed by indecision when the two hemispheres of your brain are competing to solve a problem in their own unique ways. You may also find career choices difficult due to your proficiency in several different areas. "

My test results is rather true. :) I remember when I took an ability test when I was applying for scholarship to determine my area of interests in terms of career, my results went haywire as it showed 2 extremes. One career preference is the arts category - musician or fine arts. And the other end was the science category - research.

Well, in fact, I'm pretty happy now that I found my dream job as a sales trainer. As a sales trainer, I got to be very left-brained when it comes to details. I have to be accurate with the details in my delivery, especially when it comes to products, or certain areas of compliance. On the other hand, I can express my artistic side when designing the slides or course development and of course during delivery. I need to train subjects that are super left-brained like Financial Literacy modules on time value of money and very soft skill subjects like Buyers' Psychology. I think that perhaps having a balanced brain allows me to do that switch fairly comfortably. Even though I'm more left-brained, I tend to prefer training right-brained subjects.

And I have also found the place to release my thirst to be a musician. I'm playing the keyboard for my cell group and I think that it is really a perfect arrangement.

what colour am I?

You are pink! You are a fun loving, bubbly person. You love your friends, you love your family, you love just about everything! You are probably often described as "cute", and you like it that way. You are usually a little superficial, you don't really like to take things deeper. You can definitely have a bit of a temper, but you get over things quickly too. Your relationships are based on fun and adventure. You are a good mix of white and red - passionate and a little lusty, but with an innocent charm. You may be a little spoiled, but that's okay with you. You are probably pretty secure with who you are. You are energetic, but not overly so (like reds, yellows, and oranges). You don't mind giving in to other people sometimes. You like being in the spotlight, and being recognized for your accomplishments. You love spending time with your friends. In fact, you probably hate being away from them. Being alone is not something you enjoy at all. Your friends know that with you, they will always be loved and have a great time. You, in a nutshell: Cute, bubbly, happy, a bit of a diva, friendly, confident, loving, fun. PINK!

***

A quiz in Facebook which is pretty cool! I wanted to be pink but I chose my favourite colour to be scarlet. So I thought it might just be a quiz that will show your favourite colour, but it didn't.

Only 2 points that I didn't quite agree with though.

I don't think I'm superficial. I'm someone who tend to think a lot though I may not show it. But I only think of things that are worth thinking about.

And temper wise, it is very difficult to make me lose my temper, so people who can make that happen are really something. Please don't try your luck though. Once you lose my trust, you're gone from my life.

I love the summary. "You, in a nutshell: Cute, bubbly, happy, a bit of a diva, friendly, confident, loving, fun. PINK! " That basically sums me up!

better to have a loose skirt

I was having dinner with my guy friend and an interesting conversation left me with so much laughter that I had to blog about it.

Me: "I think that I lost weight. I couldn't fit into the new skirt I bought last month. It has become too loose."

My guy friend: "Whatever you do, please do not put on weight just to fit into your skirt. You can do anything to your skirt, buy new one, alter it, whatever you do, just don't ever put on weight just to fit your skirt."

The funny part was that he said it with a serious, no joking tone. Goodness, he was more concerned about my weight than me!

My answer was "But hey, my skirt is already an Extra Small size!!! "

my online presence

I sat and wondered about the extent of my online presence and decided to do a "search" for myself on Yahoo. And I'm pleasantly surprised by the search results with about 2000 matching entries for my name "Jerlynn Ang".

1. My blog, Idyllism, showed up as the first result! :) Yippee!!!

2. Second result was "Buona Vista Toastmasters Club President Jerlynn Ang receiving triple bonus educational awards..." :P

3. I found that I was being acknowledged on this website called The Internet Movie Database under the Makeup Department for this filmography Qian Yan Wan Yu (2005). It was a memorable stint for me where I followed the filming crew the whole night!

4. My comments on Simply Peaceable.com

5. Me in the Cast List under Singapore Film Collection for Qian Yan Wan Yu in the Asian Film Archive website. My first movie that I'm acting in!!! Yes, they were so desperate when their cast did not turn up for the shoot and they grabbed their makeup artist, aka me and Jason, to be part of their cast!!! It was a 60s setting and I remember they had to spray my hair with lots of black hairspray as people in that era did not have highlighted locks! lol.

So much for being too free...

straight hair or curly locks?

I need a change. Whenever there is a traumatic turn in my life, I need a new hairstyle. Undecided on whether to keep my curls, I went around asking many different guys for opinions on whether they prefer me with straight hair or curly locks. Just for my own consideration and I receive the following responses, which I thought was pretty interesting.

The survey was a question that I popped on individuals on separate occassions alone to make sure they say their piece of mind. "Do I look better with straight hair or curly hair?"

Single guy 1:" I always prefer girls with long straight hair."

Single guy 2: "I think you look nicer in straight hair."

Single guy 3: "Up to you."

Single guy 4: "Straight hair better. Curls make you look old."

Daddy: "Straight hair and curls are two different looks and I think you look nice in both. It also depends on whether you tie up your hair in a pony tail or bun it up. That way you will look totally different in style. I think you look great in whichever style to match the clothes you wear, as long as you have the confidence to carry it off."

Now I know why Daddy is happily married to Mommy for 30 years. =) And why the rest of them are single. -_-

Daddy is simply amazing. =)

i will be back

In another 6 hours or so, I'll be off to another land. Blissful. As to where, I shan't disclose. I don't need stalkers on my trip.

No worries, I'll be back. In the mean time, I shall leave you poor souls with some entertainment.

Enjoy the meme done by Superman on my previous post.

6 Idiosyncrasies of Superman

1. I love red undies.

2. I like to set fashion trends. I wear my red undies on the outside. Oh well, I have Wonderwoman following my fashion sense.

3. I like my fringe curled.

4. I hate the idiot IT guy who invented the mobile phone. Darn. Now I don't have any phone booths to change in.

5. Actually, I'm gay.

6. Serving the US nation is difficult. People nowadays do not appreciate free service. I've since retired and immigrating to Singapore. Serving the nation here gets pay raise fast and effortless.

idiosyncrasy meme

I'm so bored and lack of inspiration that I've volunteered to do a meme that I found on DK's blog, where he wrote 6 idiosyncrasies of himself and I'm suppose to write 6 for myself and tag 6 persons.

***

1. I drink hot drinks with a straw. This idiosyncrasy started as I love to drink fresh brewed soyabean milk with a straw. In normal mornings, I can finish the whole glass in one sip non-stop. This became my habit after I wear makeup daily. Wearing lipstick or lip gloss everyday, you just want to minimise the need to touch-up after a drink. Drinking from a straw can help keep your makeup in tact. So I made it a point to drink from a straw, whether it is a hot or cold drink.

2. Coke is my happy juice. I drink coke whenever I'm depressed. So when my friends see that I'm drinking coke, they know that I must be upset over something.

3. I'm awfully particular about colour coordination on my clothes, bags, accessories and shoes. That explains how I can have jackets and tops in the same design with different colour. I have 2 sets similar suits in both black and beige, Mango lycra tube top (I have a whole stack in all the colours available), F women striped tube top in both pink and blue, Mango lycra top in both baby blue and white, Mango V-neck in both black and red, etc. Same pair of heels in both pink, brown and black. My latest idiosyncrasy: My nail colour must match my new pink phone! Ok, you get the picture.

4. You will never catch me in a white shirt and black skirt. This is one combination I will never wear because you will either look like a waitress or attending a funeral party or a penguin. Horizontal black and white stripes will also not be seen on me because I will never want to look like a jailbird. Enough said.

5. I cannot sleep with any lights on. I need to close my door, close my window, bury myself in my blankets to feel safe to sleep. Yup, so does my hamster Hazel - like owner like hamster.

6. I don't wear a one-piece swim suit.

I shall tag hellokitty, badtz maru, pochacco, hamtaro, batman and superman.

tired is an understatement

It is not even 10pm and I'm feeling extremely tired. In fact, tired is an understatement. The fact that I woke up at 5.30am today is a record-breaking feat. By 6.30am, I was fully made-up, carrying a heavy document bag, a makeup box stuffed to the brim, a bag full of hairpins and hair spray down to my car. By 7am, I reached Bukit View Secondary Secondary School to do makeup for 25 students for their SAF Dance Competition. It was a challenge, but I managed to finish, pack up and leave at 8.45am. I was glad Greg was there to help me.

I was totally worn out by then, feeling a little faint with an empty stomach. Anyhow, I managed to drive down to Shenton Way with Greg and we had a hearty MacDonald's big breakfast.

Soon after, I hurried back to Citibank, just in time for a client appointment. I was almost brain dead after the sales presentation. My energy level drained 3 times more as the client brought along 2 other friends. So I had to entertain 3 mouths at one time. Closing the deal was not easy, but I managed to open another few more cases for next week with the 2 friends. Efforts were not wasted after all my sweat and brain juice. It was a good appointment.

Somehow, I went back thinking about driving to town everyday, when it rained cats and dogs while I was on the CTE on my way home. Driving to work is a bliss. It was really amazing how the Lord blessed me. Someday I must share my testimony to witness for the Lord.

Since my blog post today has not much substance due to the state of my brain now, I shall stop my crap and go shopping in lalaland. Till tomorrow. Good night.

bad hair day

I'm having a bad hair day. A bad hair monday. Oh well, I need to chop off my locks for the ends are getting frizzed out. And oh how I missed my soft straight mane before I made a wrong decision to perm it.

It was not exactly a wrong decision I would say. I had my boss admiring my curled locks and gave me a thumbs up for the zen image. It was indeed an ego booster for him to come up to me and specifically compliment my hairdo.

My boss is very particular about our image. His philosophy is that all sales person must portray the professional image. And he has laid the rules that all guys must be in shirt and tie, all ladies in suit or dress. Plunging necklines, translucent tops, tube tops, mini skirts and any hint of cleavage are banned in the office. Naturally, my boss sets a good example by being immaculately dressed in a full suit with his signature Louis Vuitton ties with matching coloured shirt and designer cuff links everyday.

"To be successful, one need to first look successful."
My boss's top favourite phrase. How true. If you don't look successful, how do you gain the confidence of your clients? Everyone likes to be associated with successful people.

"When you look good, you feel good. And when you feel good, you make your clients feel good too! And when your clients feel good, they will give you the business and refer their friends to you." That is absolutely my boss's sales philosophy.

Ok, I need a new stylish professional hairdo, hair treatment spa and hair mask. Yups, and a new hair colour. I need a new look.

Agenda for tomorrow morning: To book an appointment with my personal hairstylist.

just blog for the sake of blogging

Recently installed the hit counter on my blog to track the hits a couple of days back. There're now more than a hundred hits. So many people must have been missing me. Yay! :)

Sorry for the lack of posts. My schedule is packed to the brim for the coming 2 weeks.

It is after midnight and I just came home from a client appointment. I'm totally pooped.

earthquake

The floor shook. Momentarily, giddiness struck.

"Ladies and gentlemen, please kindly evacuate from the building now. Please gather downstairs and wait for further instructions. Thank you. Please evacuate now." came the announcement from the PA system.

As I calmly stood up from my seat to get out of the building, I had a glimpse out of the full panel of glass behind my seat with a full view of Church Street. All the blue collared workers evacuated from all the buildings along the whole of Church Street like water bursting from a broken pipe, streaming onto the roadside. People were caught by surprise and were murmuring in groups to discuss what had just happened.

For a moment, I thought there was a terrorist attack. It was only later in the evening when the news broadcast announced that an earthquake struck Indonesia in the noon time. For the first time in my life, I felt the tremors of an earthquake.

extreme exhaustion

The double "e" hit me for the whole week. Here are the symptoms:

1. I nearly fell asleep on my wheels. Thank God it was a nearly.
2. I fell asleep while waiting for dinner to be served. And dinner was instant noodles.
3. I found gibberish typo error on my half-written blog post due to my heavy head falling on the keyboard.
4. I had to reply to an email with an apology and request for another 2 days to reply to that email.

Gosh I'm.... ... drifting..... into.......... lalaland..............................

overwhelmed

So many things have happened. So many things I want to blog. So many things I need to do. So many things I want to do. So little time. I wished I had 48 hours in a day. But then again, 48 hours a day is not enough.

Before I even finish thinking about the first item, the second item broke my train of thoughts and while I'm half-way through the second item, a third event intruded my thinking process and so on and so forth. I think it is a vicious cycle and I'm entwined and unable to get out of it! My brain felt so weary and tired. I long for some rest but I can't!

I'm so overwhelmed that migraine struck! =(

cabbie sunday

Mad rush. I splurged $50 on 5 cab drivers yesterday. Quite a satisfactorily packed-to-the-brim mad rush Sunday. Nevertheless, I'm somewhat amazed at my own efficiency ;p.

My Mad Rush Schedule
2.00 Called cab. Took cab to Punggol
2.30 Makeover 1
5.30 Took cab to Pasir Ris
5.45 Makeover 2
6.15 Makeover 3
6.55 Took cab home
7.20 Caught in traffic jam on CTE one exit away from home. Damn. Sms my client to postpone my next appointment from 7.30 to 7.50
7.30 Reached home. Dumped makeup kit and bag. Took off boots. Changed to beige heels. Took my black document bag. Grab handbag. Out of the house in less than 2 mins. Call cab while walking to main road with slight drizzle.
7.35 Cab arrived. Took cab to Geylang to meet client
7.50 Arrived on my last appointment
9.00 Took my 5th cab home. Famished. Body ached.

My Accomplishment: I earned half a month pay and lost half a kg all within half a day. :)

Next 2 weeks: OFF
Can blog until I drop! Hey, it rhymes! Kekeke....

revival of my hello kitty email

After my traumatic spam mail deleting activity yesterday, I've decided to dump my innocent account as I have better uses for that 1 year of my life. Disclaimer: This act does not mean I'm not innocent anymore.

When I login to my Hello Kitty Email, I'm totally pissed amazed to find that they have deleted ALL my emails as I did not login for more than 6 months. Wow, such initiative is rarely seen nowadays. Now that it is cleared, you can email me at jerlynn@hellokitty.com . No forwards please. Thanks.

DK, are you fainting yet? ;pPosted by Picasa
